Each Mint must ensure that all stock that will return back to the country of origin, after the MDC 2020, be correctly classified in their home countries’ shipping documents before they courier to South Africa. Otherwise the parcel could get delayed at the South African Customs control or mistakenly charged duties and/or tariffs.
All Mints are advised to request their agents for pre-clearing of consignments to avoid surprises or delays at consignment arrival.
South African Customs will require the specifications of each individual coin.
Each Mint must provide the following:
- Packing List (with weights)
- Invoices
- Date of delivery communicated in advance.
Secure packaging for coin consignment is strongly recommended to all Mints sending coins to South Africa. Unfortunately South Africa has a high security risk for valuable items in transit.
Transit Insurance must be secured by each Mint for its own consignment, covering travel from origin to SA Mint to Cape Town and back to the origin
All coins must be re-claimed and removed by the submitting Mint’s representative at the conclusion of the conference, on Thursday April 29 between 09am and 12noon, If not collected the coins will not be returned but considered abandoned.
If you do not attend the MDC 2020, but would like to enter the coin or packaging competition, you must designate a person authorised to collect your entry.
We will offer you the export documents for custom clearance. You should carry this export documents and samples by hand carried luggage.
