About the Mint Directors Conference
The MDC (Mint Directors Conference), held every two years, is the pre-eminent international event where mint directors, suppliers, retailers and other stakeholders, come together to exchange information and debate the future of coins.
Founded in 1962, the 32nd MDC takes place in Cape Town, South Africa, hosted by the South African Mint.
Passing the banner
The 31st MDC conference was hosted by Royal Canadian Mint in Ontario, Canada in September 2023, and the 32nd conference will be organised by South African Mint in Cape Town in April 2025.
Cape Town
Perched between the ocean and the mountain, with a national park as its heart, there is nowhere like Cape Town. Cape Town, the “Mother City”, is the oldest city in South Africa and has a cultural heritage spanning more than 300 years.
South African Mint
The South African Mint, home of the world-famous Krugerrand is the continent’s leading manufacturer of legal coin tender, as well as commemorative and rare collectible coins.
